Document Delivery Service clients – Zportal reopened
June 25, 2009Document Delivery Service clients – Forgotten your password?
March 18, 2009
If you forget the password we emailed to you when you first registered for the Document Delivery Service you do not have to reregister all over again.
Simply phone us (Hobart 62 26 2230) (Ltn 63 24 3571) or email us (Docdel.Hbt@lib.utas.edu.au) (Docdel.Ltn@lib.utas.edu.au)
We can then ‘reset’ your password and tell you the new password over the phone or email it to you. Then you can begin requesting again, or if you wish, choose your own password again through your ZPortal “Account details” link.

Saving ‘Received’ documents in ZPortal
July 1, 2008The documents we attach to your ZPortal as a PDF link should be viewed/saved or printed out within 30 days. After this period of time, under Copyright regulations, we are required to remove the documents from our server. Recently we have had a couple of phone calls from users asking what had happened to a file received many months ago.
The above information is contained in the ‘Received’ alert sent out when the document is first attached. However, we shall also include it on our Document Delivery web pages to increase the prominence.
Of course, we can ‘repurchase’ the article once the request has been resubmitted, but we would like to avoid this.
Hot tip for users of ZPortal
May 20, 2008
Searching in ZPortal serves two purposes for you.
-
It enables you to find a bibliographic record (i.e. a book title or a journal title, not a journal article title). Once you have found your title (and often you find many with the same title) just choose ‘Get It!’ to ‘populate’ the request form. This saves you typing in the details yourself.
- If you see ‘University of Tasmania’ as a collection link, then click on ‘Details’ to find location and call number for this item in the University of Tasmania Library collection.
Useful tip: If you click on the ‘University of Tasmania’ link in the ‘Search Results’ box at the top of the screen it will display all the entries for the University of Tasmania at the top of the numbered list of titles.
As mentioned in the April posting if you cannot find a title through searching in ZPortal simply go to ‘Create Request’ on the side menu, and type in your details on a blank request form.
Feedback on Document delivery System.
April 17, 2008The Document Delivery Librarian recently asked some regular users of the ZPortal requesting system what they thought about it in terms of searching, requesting and receiving pdf documents.
Many users asked:
How to I quickly request a Journal Article without doing a search within Zportal?
Answer:
Simply fill out a blank request form using the ‘Create Request’ link. This option is located towards the bottom of the left menu.
For journal articles it is often faster to go straight to “Create request” on the side menu.
